SaaS (Software as a Service)
Software delivered as a hosted subscription service, with the provider responsible for infrastructure, upgrades and availability.
SaaS shifts operational responsibility to the vendor. The customer configures and uses the product; the vendor runs it. Costs are subscription-based rather than capital expenditure, and upgrades arrive continuously.
Enterprise SaaS extends this with tenant isolation options, security review support, SSO, data-residency choices, contractual service levels and integration depth that consumer-grade SaaS does not require.
